Ruscha were most famous for their Vulcano glaze.
Color Series – a series rather than the specific decor name. The glazes on this series were all however similar with concentric circles of colour over a red or blue base glaze
Costa Decor – This decor came in red, turquoise and yellow. The red is most commonly found. It was in production in the mid 1960s.
Craquelee Decor – A crackle glaze usually ion white but occasionally found in yellow.
Domino Decor – This decor name is often applied to a range of different variants of design. Usually consisting of black and white stripes (sometimes straight, sometimes curved) but always with yellow spots. the image on the right below includes green stripes.
Enzian Decor – a floral decor reminiscent of Italian pottery. Introduced around 1957.
Kreta Decor – This 515 Ruscha is hand marked on the base with the decor name Kreta (English Crete).
Milano Decor – This is one of the most sought after 1950s glaze decors produced by Ruscha.
Paris Decor – Consisting of a woman and cat against a variety of Paris backdrops.
Perlmutt Decor – Which translates to ‘nacre’, also known as mother of pearl (a material produced by some molluscs as an inner shell layer; it also makes up the outer coating of pearls).
Tundra Decor – A foamy white glaze with a band of darker brown/black/green likely reflecting cold frozen tundra environments.
Turkis Decor – Often found applied to vases in the Pompeji series (as shown below)
Vulcano Decor – Thick red classic fat lava glaze. Developed by Otto Gerharz Snr (who went on to form Otto Keramik)
Zebra Decor – Consists of bands of thick green and white with the green usually coming to a point at the top of the vase.
