A quick update to give a sneak preview of the latest 280 odd arrivals at potsandpots which just been unpacked. Over the coming days/weeks we will be identifying and photographing them and updating the website with new shapes, glazes, labels and identification tips.

Sale prices on eBay have been investigated to look at West German Pottery price trends. The aim is to monitor the changing value of West German pottery through analysis of UK eBay sales. The intention is that this will provide a barometer for the popularity/desirability of Fat lava items.
January 2012 sales indicate a slump in the sale prices compared with the previous four months. The average sales price was £12.45. The top 20% most expensive items average sale price was at its lowest level (£32.03) since monitoring started in September 2011.

Bargain Hunt has already featured on the WGP Spotted posts twice (see here and here). This latest episode was broadcast on the 12th January 2012. You can see the episode for a limited time of the BBC iPlayer.
The episode was based in Gloucester Docks Antiques Centre. Interestingly we have recently visited the antiques centre and spotted all the West German pottery (we featured it here on the littleowlski blog).

The contestants bought a West German Wall hanging of a brightly glazed butterfly for £20. It was made by Carstens, who also manufactured other similar plaques depicting fish and parrots.

Unfortunately the auction sale was held in a country auction house and the item struggled, selling for just £5, making the team a £15 loss.

Back in March 2011 The Guardian newspaper ran a feature called “one Click to the Past” which featured online vintage homewares shops. Homescape featured and the item chosen for inclusion in the articles image was a Ruscha 313 designed by Kurt Tschorner. The homescape website is pleasing to the eye but I’m afraid most things, including the 313 are marked as sold.
The images below show other examples of the Ruscha 313 and larger brother the 315.

The current edition (February 2012) of the Homes and Antiques magazine has antiques and collectors fairs listed at the back.

The Detling Antiques and Collectors fair is illustrated with a picture stuffed full of West German fat lava items. The event at Detling Showground in Kent is on the 14th and 15th of January 2012.
