West German Pottery Spotted (27) – Alpro Deskfest Competition

I will be honest – this is a slightly tenuous link to West German Pottery. We have entered a competition with Alpro to try and win a weekend in New York City. You had to tweet a picture of you enjoying your Alpro breakfast at your work desk. I decided that I would create a giant and miniature Alpro breakfast feast (don’t ask why I just thought it would be fun!). The results of my efforts are shown below. If you peer very carefully you should be able to just about make out a line of West German plant pots on the windowsill (they are all made by Marei).
If you like our picture and would like to help us out trying to win the holiday (!) then please click here and tweet about it, share the picture on Facebook or ‘pin’ it… Thanks in advance!

West German Pottery Spotted (26) – Mad Men, TV Show

This blog post has been a long time in the making. LittleOwlSki has been working her way though DVD box sets of Mad Men, a TV show set around an advertising agency in the 1960s. The producers of the series have taken care to produce a visual style authentic to the era. LittleOwlSki has been regularly spotting ceramics in the show which could be West German. I have not always been convinced but I have more confidence in this latest spot of a brightly coloured vase (from Series 2, episode Meditations in an Emergency – image from inside Pete and Trudie Campbell’s apartment).

The images below are taken from other episodes and feature ceramics which may be West German (left; possible Otto/Kreutz lamp, centre; possible Helmut Schäffenacker vase, right; small red vase possibly by Scheurich).
