The TV programme Antiques Roadshow featured a big segment on West German Fat Lava ceramics this week (broadcast on 28/10/12). A collector had brought in about 40 vases from his collection of 1,000 to 1,500 items.

The expert Will Farmer describes the vases as having a “love it or hate it” impact on people and goes on to say that this is still a young growing market with many factories and lots of information still to be discovered. The prices are said to be increasing and Will himself has now started to sell it in his sale rooms.

Intriguingly during the valuation discussion Will Farmer mentions that there are rumours that some Roth items are swapping hands for over £1,000.
